Believe it or not, Naughty Dog released yet another bunch of beautiful The Last of Us Part II photo mode entries, and honestly? Those are really making us want to boot the game out yet again. Attached to the Season 2 premiere of HBO’s adaptation, the studio conducted a #TLOUPhotoMode challenge, and those include everything from hauntingly to downright terrifying, fan entries-the same way as the game holds true.
The selections spotlight four that are just waiting to be hit by your finger over the screenshot button. First up, tlou2photography’s Ellie blade moment was captured with such tension and artistry, and then terrific “Employee of the Month” shot by @mistydiazz because nothing quite says commitment like the one Clicker hanging out in the breakroom. lastglassgaming posted a peaceful but haunting shot of Ellie and Dina riding through snow, while maddies.vp took it full-on nightmare fuel with a Clicker lurking inside what looks like an abandoned store.
These images sound insane since they touch on that tone of the HBO series yet feel so gamey. The lighting, the framing, and especially the mood of each pic proves that even after years from its launch, TLOU2’s photo mode is still a playground for creativity. But perhaps most of all for viewers glancing through different prisms at Joel and Ellie’s world, given the new Season 2.
No response at this moment; however, time is needed because one of these eye-candy things will always bring out debate as to which screenshot merits that fabled Pulitzer prize – or at least which one would horrify mom the most. (Our vote goes to the Clicker in the store. Nope nope nope.)
Naughty Dog has managed to weigh it on timing yet again, eh? These aren’t just pixels; there is an HBO hype train and PS5 remaster rumors in the making.
These photos remind more of why this title slaps harder than Ellie’s golf club swing. Wait for a while while we relive the theatre sequence without trying to ugly cry, making that perfect shot.
