Fallout Shelter comfortably turned the big 1-0, or rather, a 10-year-old game. Since its initial release in 2015 by Bethesda, before we knew it, 10 years had passed away. To celebrate, the official Fallout Twitter account asked players how their vaults were faring. The replies? Simply gold. Some people are still playing wasteland management, and some… well, let’s say their vaults didn’t fare well.

To start with, all honor should go to the most enduring stomping grounds. @SrGoodneighbor posted screenshots of their original vault, still going strong in this day and age. Another one, @halonaye, termed it a “fun time capsule,” implying that some dwellers really do endure. Then @SleepisforT’s vault is pretty much fine except for a most dire shortage of Nuka-Cola Cherry. I am sure that takes precedence for them.

But yeah… Some vaults did not make it through forever. @Mr_Menace87 admitted, “They ummm didn’t make it. I’m a terrible overseer.” Brutally honest. @PumpkinKing1113, meanwhile, lost a maxed-out vault (and $200 worth of microtransactions) when a phone broke. By dint of this lesson, cloud saving has become a must. And @dewtson? Sent out a dweller for resources… A YEAR AGO. Hope they packed extra RadAway.

Then there is the greater nostalgic horde. @Luciano_Ger nearly lamented the notion that Shelter was 10 years old. Maybe @fargassier was one of the first to rush to download it once it was announced unexpectedly. @MissManday even credits Shelter as her gateway into the Fallout world. But plainly, @flips1884 isn’t in the mood for nostalgia, demanding “We want Fallout 5, not this rubbish!” Ouch.

Then there are those just beginning with it. @maw_tater started her first ever vault last week and calls it her “newest obsession.” Super happy you are enjoying it! Meanwhile, @ASmash_kirby hopes to play it on their Windows Mobile. Uhh… good luck with that.

And so what do we learn? Fallout Shelter is about ten years old, yet this game still dances! Initial overseers or new recruits, there is something oddly addictive about management of a post-apocalyptical bunker. And hey, if your vault fell… no judgments. Radroaches happen.
