Fallout 76 started off pretty rocky. With the bevy of bugs and lack of any NPCs, it seemed like Bethesda’s latest RPG was doomed before it started. Then updates starting coming out on a regular basis that eventually lead to the Wastelanders update.
It has changed Fallout 76 in a lot of ways, with one of the most prominent additions being NPCs. There are now plenty of characters to talk to and accept quests from.
What was once a very isolated game now feels very social. Bethesda deserves credit for seeing the glaring issues and making adjustments where they were most needed.
For those that haven’t had the chance to play Fallout 76, this weekend is your time. Bethesda is opening this first-person RPG up to the public from May 14th to May 18th. That’s plenty of time to see what you’ve been missing and to determine for yourself if the Wastelanders update is worth the hype.
Best of all, you don’t have to spend a penny to see what Fallout 76 has to offer. You’ll be able to explore the vast West Virginia lands solo or with a party. Now that the Wastelanders update is live, there are a lot of things to look forward to if you decide to take Bethesda up on this free-play weekend.
Talking to NPCs is as fun as it has ever been in a Fallout game. Bethesda has done a great job at making the characters different with unique backstories. The dialogue also is top notch.
Conversations don’t feel meaningless. Rather, they’re full of intrigue and constantly make you want to keep conversing to find out hidden secrets that could give rise to great fortune and revelations.
The quests that you’ll go on as directed by the NPCs are also great. There are rewards at the end of every compelling journey, which give you added motivation to keep exploring and taking down baddies. It’s a shame that Fallout 76 didn’t start off this good, but better late than never.
The new factions and settlements are great additions that provide hours of meaningful content. There’s even a new reputation system that lets you get in the good graces of your selected fashion.
All in all, Fallout 76 is now a completely different game. For a couple of days, you can see just how good it now is without having to break the bank. That’s great news for everyone in the gaming community.
