Ever since the Mega Sale began nearly five years ago, Epic has always given Fortnite something to sink in its claws. Now, without any incentive, the game is facing some rather unsatisfactory vocal complaints from the community. Contra free cosmetics freebies that went to Fall Guys and Rocket League, Fortnite has been denied such an offer, causing some major dust to be blown up by the player base.
In a fairly very rare news, credible Fortnite insider ShiinaBR came to Twitter to stress on the great exclusion. Tweets poured with one from among expressing confusion or disappointment, others making jokes about the newfound stinginess by Epic. One reply said, “Fortnite said ‘y’all brokies ain’t getting NOTHING,’” while another whispered, “Epic is a greedy company just concerned with their profits.”
Some hope could be held for the free drops that might come after the delayed update, but nothing has been conformed to. Some had suggested consolation that Fortnite had recently dropped free Zadie and Stormtrooper skins, but such declarations did almost nothing to stem the tide of disappointment.
Invalidating that hope: Unlike Fortnite, Rocket League and Fall Guys are still splurging free items in the flash sale! One fan alleged it is unfair for Epic to exclude Fortnite while paying attention to the other games. Another joked, “Sad news for the unemployed,” highlighting how much players depend on free cosmetics to keep their lockers fresh.
Even the usual persons who would defend the group’s decisions seemed confused this time around. Some said that the free skins might have been held up because of the update, while others sarcastically thanked Epic for “two ass ballistic skins” instead of something actually worthwhile.
So what gives? Is Epic really being tight with money, or are they just setting up for a bigger surprise? Only time will tell. However, for now, Fortnite fans are really just sitting and watching as Rocket League and Fall Guys grab their free swag, while they get… nothing.
Disappointed that maybe Guardians of the Galaxy or Thor will go on big bundle discounts? Sorry, boss: those aren’t within the sale! Maybe next year, friends. Or maybe it’s just the end of Epic giving away for marketing. Either way, the message is loud and clear: this year’s Mega Sale felt more like a minimal sale for the Fortnite crowd.
