The votes are tallied, and Emma Frost emerged the Gala Star Vote victor by the players of Marvel Rivals. From her place in the top spot, the White Queen shone with her classic elegance and diamond-hard dominance, earning herself a new costume that would be the core free download during the Hellfire Gala next year. That said, not everyone was enamored by the final decision, or by the wait.

Marvel Rivals lured off from social media, creating that fabulous buzz around the spectacular announcement of the win. The promotion had her skin to be free to the players in 2025, which hey, is a whole year away. Eye-rolls already-these cynics began whispering, “Next year? That’s way too far away. This game could very well be dead by then.” Ouch.

A few considered that one particular set of reactions might be half celebrations and half bitterness. Some like Chris Sarajina were practically proud to post “Yay my 45 votes helped let’s goooo gang!” But a few others started questioning the legitimacy of the whole vote. One player went as far as to speculate, “That shit was rigged from the very beginning.” Another just outright candidly inquired, “who the fuck- who voted for her?”

Another spawning ground appeared: the whole fashion police cast. Emma’s base skin for Marvel Rivals has been… to say the least, a marmite affair. One artist begged, “please DO NOT let whoever designed her base skin do this one,” whereas another teased, “voted for an ugly looking base outfit so you can get a new skin literally whole year from now.” Then there are those desperate for any new Emma Frost content, as Jay confessed, “Idc paying for a skin that’ll be free in a year i just want a different Emma skin BAD.”

Of course, there were another set who were not mad at all. Some players went all in for the White Queen’s victory, one of them commenting, “Those thighs don’t lie it was an easy choice.” Another jokingly pouted, “Next year, damn.” Yet another are the Wanda Maximoff stans, still salty that their queen did not make it. “Wanda wasn’t even in the top 4,” lamented one, only to be countered by another, “I think we have plenty of boring Wanda skins already.”

And now that question very well sneaks in: what will the skin even look like? Players will want something worthy of the Gala, and not just a recolor (looking at you, Dragan). A whole year for NetEase to either come up with something phenomenal or just break all their hearts. And that is way more entertaining than some actual in-game matches.

So congrats Emma Frost stans! You guys got what you wanted. Now it’s the waiting-and-arguing phase. Mostly arguing.
