EA Sports has confirmed the release date for College Football 25, which is set for July 10, overturning the internet. On one side are people going crazy with excitement to finally play the game for the first time ever after years of impatience. On the other side, they think of it as some glam glorified reskin of Madden with a small college paint job.
That announcement tweet came together with a hype trailer, showing some rather dramatic bus arrivals and stadium entrances, promising players to “cement your program in the history books.” But the responses? Ugh…a mixed bag of excitement, skepticism, and anger.
One of the big gripes? The offensive-line mechanics. Several players, including Benjamin and beezy2306, have begged EA to fix the “shitty O-line play” of past games. Honestly, can you blame them? This is the fastest way to break immersion-the quarterback is going down in 0.2 seconds since the left tackle gave up on blocking halfway.
Then customization was mentioned. People like GoddessRei2 and lliw_a want full-on indentured servant sort of customization-from renaming the players in Team Builder to swapping uniforms in head-to-head matches. “If I’m making a custom team, I want to customize ALL my players’ names,” said GoddessRei2 to another user. And that is a very good point. Why gate something so basic?
Dynasty mode is also a sore subject. AddyAce1 wants scrimmages to be added so you can play against your friends’ teams without having to coordinate schedules, while ____Jayy1k dreams of exporting an entire draft class into Madden. “I’d buy Madden in a heartbeat if my recruits could have full NFL careers,” he offered. EA, listen to them-you just handed free money to yourself.
We will deliver, some others are saying, including kaniyas, praising visuals and new catch animations (hope they’re not broken). And coachtoshi1? Pure hype: “I fr can’t wait‼️‼️‼️‼️”
Still, the skeptics remain pretty loud. Joshua Rowan11 bluntly asked, “Who actually pre-orders these garbage games?” Then, PenetrateWonga mocked the price tag, being $70 for what they considered just “plus production update.” That stung.
And piling on the school representation drama would not be wrong. TimmyBonesJones carted EA for snubbing Iowa State (“consistently top 25 but not even in the background of ads?”), while verdepervita and blm_sports rag on the trailer for missing Florida State’s iconic traditions. “Where’s Chief Osceola and Renegade?!” one clamored.
So, will College Football 25 deliver? Or is it yet another, “Madden with colleges,” as RasslinSuperFan put it? July 10 might just stay a sleepless, nervy night for better or against.
The pre-orders are live, but maybe wait for gameplay footage before you throw down your hard-earned cash. Just saying.
