BioWare’s follow-up for the Dragon Age game series has been put on hold over the last years because of the Anthem game’s release last February. Though the game has been in development, many are still unsure about the game’s storyline. This week, news has been circulating that a collection of short stories penned by several Dragon Age writes set for release. As such, it might give a clue to what Dragon Age 4 might have in store.

The new addition to the Dragon Age franchise was first teased during the Game Awards last 2018. But no official news was released regarding its storyline and how the game would go. But thanks to the marketing strategy of its developers, the collection of stories possibly might be the basis for how the game would play out.

Entitle Dragon Age: Tevinter Nights, the story takes place in Tevinter Imperium of Thedas, the oldest surviving human nation ruled by mages. For Dragon Age players, the previously released DLC, Dragon Age: Inquisition’s Trespasser foreshadowed the story’s continuation. Relating the last parts of the 2015 game, the Inquisitor, jabbed a knife into the Tevinter Imperium map, signifying the next chapter.

The previous Dragon Age games have been closely connected to a specific location. For example, the first release, Dragon Age: Origins, took place in the fortress city of Ferelden. Dragon Age II was set in the Kirkwall City, and the last installment took place in the Orlesian Empire.

If speculations are correct and the to-be-released collection of stories is connected to the fourth game, it would suggest the location of the story. Listings from various sources indicate that the Dragon Age: Tevinter NIghts story will be released early next year, possibly March. If this publication follows the previous books in the series, it will introduce new characters that would be part of the Dragon Age 4 game.

Dragon Age editor and lead writer, Patrick Weekes, tweeted the Amazon listing link and stated that he is not the sole author of the book. Weekes has also worked on The Masked Empire novel which was precedent to the release of the Dragon Age: Acquisition game. The collection of short stories set for release next year gives every Dragon Age fanatics a real clue of what they need to expect. Given the pattern of publication and game release from the previous franchises, Dragon Age: Tevinter Nights will likely have the same way.
