Square Enix has announced it’s rolling out one last update to Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. Unfortunately, this will be the last update to the titles. The last update isn’t due to an upcoming sequel. There are no plans to continue the series, but the game’s online services aren’t ending any time soon.

Square Enix made the announcement during a livestream held late last month.

According to the livestream, the very last major update that added Ardyn as a playable character and made balance fixes. The update has rolled out on March 5.

The game has also been released globally, and the publisher developer has continued to roll out new updates throughout the years. The console edition of Dissidia Final Fantasy NT was released free in 2015. The Free-to-Play edition is still available on Steam, although a paid deluxe edition is still available.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT launched worldwide in early 2018, while the PC release was fairly recent in March 2019. it has been around one year since the game was released on PC worldwide, but the game has been available in Japan for years. The Arcade version of the game in Japan saw some success, but unfortunately finding a match on console became an even more difficult challenge.

“Over twenty-four of Final Fantasy’s most recognizable faces have assembled to take part in interdimensional fisticuffs. Face off against other teams in action-packed, three-on-three melees that require sense as well as strength to win. Each combatant can be one of four types: vanguard, assassin, marksman, or specialist; play off your allies’ fighting styles, master the bravery system, and emerge triumphant from the clash of steel and sorcery!” states the official Steam page summary.

Fortunately for players just now picking up Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, they can still play it online, if they can still find other challengers to face. There are currently no plans to shut down online services at the time. Plans are unknown for the long-term future of Dissidia Final Fantasy NT for now, as many developers and publishers have recently been ending services for long-running games, especially on mobile.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is available now for PlayStation 4 and PC.
