This latest “This Week in Destiny” update Bungie has pushed out probably reminded players of that same hot-and-cold reception it has received. Developers were promising updates around Gear Tiering, Exotic Armor 3.0, and Pride Month festivities…the players are not holding anything back.
Taking some positive shots: The first Edge of Fate previews have finally landed, giving the Guardians some insight into future updates. There is a brand new calendar entry for Rite of the Nine and Adept weapon rotations, and, finally, Bungie decided to carry Pride Month all the way there… and that was the cue for the armor changes to enter the risk zone.
New Gear Tiering has everyone stirred up. It’s seen by many as a regrind nightmare, pushing all to regrind new armor sets just to stay on par. One player, @uldren, even said it was a death sentence for anyone already struggling with the grind. And with Mobility stats? Those have been tweaked too; people are now divided on those changes. @Rae_gyn even sent some hard questions Bungie’s way: why was Mobility nerfed and will the mods even be able to make up for it?
And those PvP Changes. Yeah! The new weapon-stat changes have not sat well with the Crucible mains. @him_anonymous28 almost pleaded that Bungie reconsider these changes because they are about to force everyone into the same boring weapon builds; then we got @tmc6399 who have no clue about these changes, saying that they “sound terrible for PVP” and demanding transparency.
And there’s more! Hunters are furious over Ascension Fragment Nerf. @TacticalWhiffer said outright that Hunters already lack passive healing options, and now their one viable build is getting gutted. Meanwhile, @KingOryxIF feels that Bungie jumper the gun on prismatic fragment slot reduction instead of waiting for the players to conduct some testing.
What about Gambit? Yeah, nobody’s really chatting about Gambit. @xgrammaton casually wondered, was it deleted because there’s not a single peep about it?-Classic.
@Kalyx_triaD is excited for grenade cooldown’s return, while @Frenzel36428280 helps another Guardian with some tips on quests. But overall? Tense, probably.
So that puts a bunch of explaining on Bungie because the players want to know, like yesterday, how the changes are going to work, especially in PvP, and with a new season around the corner, time is flying. Will Bungie listen, or are we going to face another meta meltdown? Time will tell.
For now, the Guardians are stuck somewhere between the hype and the frustration, trying to see if some of their favorite builds will make it out of this update. One thing’s for sure: the Destiny 2 community can really speak its mind, and these updates have just confirmed that.
