This Week in Destiny is big news from Bungie. There was a lot of hype, a bit of confusion, and some straight-up yelling into the void on the rest of it in the community. The Edge of Fate is coming on May 6, Iron Banner returns, a new puzzle has appeared for the community that has already left players wishing they could go all detective mode-gadget on it. Oh, and Event Home previews? Yeah, that has people wondering if finally, player housing is actually a thing. Let us break it down before the theories get any crazier.

First comes The Edge of Fate’s reveal. The Edge of Fate. The full gravity of GM Nightfall mustn’t be based on this one, but that didn’t stop Twist Ledgendz the support hunter to go full conspiracy board with it. They’re convinced it’s a veiled reference to astronomers, the Kepler mission, or even exoplanets such as Kepler-22b. “I refuse to believe this wasn’t intentional,” they would later tweet. And honestly? Same goes here. The Destiny community loves a good lore deep dive, and this one has got legs. Or… space legs? Whatever.

And Event Homes? Uh, players went, “Wait, wait wait! Is player housing a thing?!” It hasn’t been confirmed, but honestly? SelkraOfficial stated that Event Cards were dead, and now we’ve got Event Homes to lick and spend on. “The only monetization now is buying ranks,” they clarified, which is a big win for players already hurting from feeling nickel-and-dimed. “Amazing step up,” put Dominus Burrito. And hardly disagreeing, we are there, but just if less FOMO is in sight.

But poor change notwithstanding with many up for it, some are simply going berserk about it. Matt hit back with: “Community is a word that gets thrown too often in this game,” and okay, fair enough. Simultaneously, PlainWhiteBread was out asking, “I guess you can wait to tell us more because you still ain’t saying anything.” They are missing a few core content updates: in new Strikes, PvP maps, anything, and honestly? Mood. Some major anticipated changes from Bungie, but certain people have extremely low patience for some things.

Where did all that chaos momentum come from? Timothy Mark! clapped back on somebody else’s theory: “bro is just yapping anything for attention,” rude, but somewhat true? Meanwhile, Unclad side-eyed at Bungie tagging Midtown with “fan-favorite map” jokingly “> fan favorite map > midtown.” Such map talk never ends, people.

The return of the Iron Banner, of course. MidSquire entertained with, “The battle is over. Relish in victory Guardians,” but yes, one should never forget about getting their grind on. Typhoon Lex couldn’t help himself regarding bounties and the system of said bounties: “Oh man, you just know they’re gonna make it take a full 10 regular bounties to just level up once.” Painfully accurate.

The vinyl announcement regarding the soundtrack did not create as much buzz, but nonetheless, BungieLove in partnership with GamersEngaged – always nice to see these things.

What’s next? More theory crafting, more grinding, and probably more confusion until May 6. Whether it’s about lore, loot, or just for the mayhem, there’s never a dull day in Destiny 2.
