Bungie has hyped up fans of Destiny 2, and the community is going insane. In an ever-so cryptic and tantalizing tweet, the studio teased something big for an event next Tuesday – “There is just something to be said about everything that was released and revealed unto us in the last ten-plus years of Destiny: Everything has just been fabulous, and we cannot wait to see what comes next.” Cue frenzied speculation.

Much speculation surrounds the “Edge of Fate reveal” being some Guardian-induced windstorm, but the very vagueness of it (surprise) leaves some other box unopened. Is this an expansion? Is this a season finale? Or is this some crazy in-game event? Nobody knows for sure, and the studio has told the players to “please wear this emblem” and show off their looks while they count the minutes. Classic Bungie: everything’s under wraps, but you gotta look good doing it.

Additionally, it provides a link for what looks like a trailer or teaser site along with a picture of what appears to be a brand-new in-game emblem. With this, fans have flooded the internet with theories about what may happen next; some even speculate whether this may connect with the “Final Shape” expansion that is reportedly coming, possibly a mid-season surprise update. And let’s be real, when they say “special something,” they mean it. Remember Witch Queen? Yeah. That happened.

Seems indeed, going up for Destiny 2 Season deep; underwater fighting (finally!) and a fair few dramatic hits in the story. But whatever this is that Bungie is teasing, surely it has to be more than a seasonal release? Maybe it’s finally that Darkness subclass everyone has been asking for? Ooh, plot twist, a completely new Destiny 3 announcement? (Okay, probably not, but a Guardian can dream.)

Not really shocking to you, of course. Buzzing already: communities have taken to social media displaying emblem setups, and thus train hype has left the station. Bungie is great at taking even minuscule hints and turning them into massive events—this is no different.

Mark your calendars, Guardians. Next Tuesday is a day to remember. Be it a new raid, some in-game scandal, or just the Bungie trolls having fun again, one thing is for certain: Destiny is going to get weird again. And hey, if nothing happens, we can finally get some fresh fashion to flex in the Tower.
