DayZ players, prepare yourselves. Something enormous is coming. The day of 28th hotfix with memory wipe starts rolling out. Yes, everything is being wiped totally. Server downtime in the official PC servers at 1 p.m. CEST, followed by the same on the consoles at 2 p.m. CEST. It will probably last for about an hour. Patch notes are already up and awaiting your review at any time.
Let’s really get into the DayZ wipe, which has been very much a mixed bag over the years. Some welcome it as a fresh start, whereas others think about these issues like dupes and kinda ineffective fight against hackers. One madman named Based_On_Cringe comments amidst all the pre-wipe chaos: “I AM GOING TO EAT SO MUCH HUMAN STEAKS BEFORE THE TIMER RUNS OUT!!!” Classic DayZ.
The community still finds itself asking questions. Lysy4271 hits straight to the point: “Fix the duping first. What’s the point of wipes if it only affects legit players and dupers will still be loaded within a few days?” Oof. That one really does hit home. Duping is just another sore in the side of DayZ for, what, millions of years? And the players are basically done watching their hard-earned loot disappear while these exploiters go on living the good life.
And then what’s it going to be about the servers? Exhorter_ would demand fewer servers in Asia, arguing the numbers weight are too thin with the launch of the new map. “There are times when there are like 5 plus Chernarus servers with 10 plus population but less than 20,” they pointed out. Consolidation might be the best option, in any case, for another map.
And then, those random passionate pleas: Merxly pleads with the developers to add more options for vehicles: “Developers please add doors, windows, codelocks—at least something for various construction!” HackFestCoD followed up with, “It’s always weird they don’t add codelocks. Battery operated, takes a chunk out each time you use it. Pretty simple.” Honestly, not a bad idea.
Of course, not everyone is mad about the issue. People like BeastlyChamp are just hyped up: “Perfect, I get off work around 13:00 CEST.” Meanwhile, TawanaStewart15 asks the real questions: “Will y’all be adding horses in the future?” Stranger things have happened in DayZ.
So, what’s the verdict? The one-28th hotfix settles upon us with a W.I.P.E., and the community has “thoughts.” And whether you’re excited for a clean slate or pissed off that there’s still stuff that hasn’t been worked out, one thing is for sure: DayZ keeps making things interesting. Grab those patch notes and prepare for some more survival chaos. Or, hit the streets for some human steaks while you still can.
