Those incredible Days Gone Remastered numbers were launched by Bend Studio, straight onto the angry cries of the gamers having only one single thing on their collective mind: LET’S HAVE THE SEQUEL ALREADY.
The studio had its late-night tweet-bombing moment, announcing that since the remaster’s drop, players have accumulated 199 TRILLION points altogether in Horde Assault. That is some serious freaker shooting. To put this into perspective: if every slain freaker was laid down one by one and arranged in a straight line, the length would stretch about three-quarters of the way to the moon and back-almost twice.
The tweet had some words of thanks for the players for kicking off Days Gone Remastered and Broken Road DLC: “Deacon would be proud.” With those excellent numbers, the reply section soon turned into a full-on mutiny for an official Days Gone 2 announcement.
“Cool, now give us the sequel,” a comment from Taylor Von Jones fits the mood perfectly. Others, such as Rick Dude, were more direct: “Any chance for a sequel?” Spoiler: That question was asked by many.
Players were going one step further, with some like TJ Callaway, still platinum-ing the game for the second time-even without save transfers from the original version. Callaway admitted: “Don’t like it, feel like I’m cheating. If only Sony would pull their heads out of you-know-where and greenlight the sequel.” Ouch!
Then, we have The Dude (yes, that is the username) offering: “Okay but what if I personally fund the sequel for you guys?” Pretty forth-right. Respect should be given for the spirit.
Those are not all the requests for the sequel. Miguel Távora pointed out a weird permadeath glitch at the end of the game; replayfaktor would welcome an option to disable stamina, probably in the name of more chaotic horde fights. Then there were some others who demanded physical copies for themselves, like Azdie, who said, “I refuse to buy this digital.”
But for most, the responses were, in some form or another, an all-caps “D A Y S G O N E 2 W H E N???” Even Vladislav Chepelenko, not exactly a common English-tweeter, took the simple route: “Days gone 2.” No translation needed.
So what? Why is everybody so obsessed with this sequel? Well, since Days Gone was a trendy catastrophe-corrosion frowned upon by critics at its launch time but now with the passage of time has secured lateral cult status-by means of its remaster had breathed new life into it, and currently, both its fans and the numbers from Bend Studio testify to how much juice could be squeezed by Deacon St. John’s zombie-crushing adventures.
Will Sony be listening? Who knows? But they would be beyond crazy if they hadn’t at least considered it judging by how loudly demands have sprung up for a sequel. Until then, these gamers will be busy carving Freakers by the trillion.
If you have not played Days Gone Remastered yet, now is the best time! Just remember, it’s your fault when you suddenly find yourself screaming for another sequel.
