A slight twinkle for you all: being a bit more accessible would require purchasing PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium subscription. Meaning, if one announces the base game of Cyberpunk 2077 being entered into the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, the life of CD Projekt Red aims to enshrine that there shall be no extra spending for any subscriber of PlayStation Plus to enter into neon chaos. Still, hold on a bit; before the celebrations with a few synth-scotches at Afterlife begin, let’s weigh in on what’s really happening here-and WHY the majority are looking askance.
Pricing-wise, it is quite clear: So basically: PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members can simply download the game and play it in dystopian chaos for free now. With that, as classic Night City-style, the tweet from CDPR jokingly said it is a one-way trip, with a pinch of sarcasm telling that you might as well flatline after it. But here’s the drawback: Phantom Liberty expansion is yet to be purchased-in case you are getting all itchy for a spin through Dogtown, it is going to burn through your pockets.
And now that should be worth marking on one’s calendar, shouldn’t it? Lots of newcomers into Night City means even more chaos, more memes, and more “Wake the hell up, samurai” moments. The replies are true madness. Some gamers are excited; @Eufeion declared, “preem choom!!” (which means very cool, friend). Others like @edgarpoe91 are literally so mad that they have reinstated the game expecting fixes in Update 2.3; feeling lied to and disappointed once again.
So it leads me back to Update 2.3… And when is that supposed to come out? The comment section is filled with requests for information: @Supersonic_OG waits for it to start a new build, @rabixdxd cries “DROP THE UPDATE” with a sobbing emoji, and @BigStanSmoke begs for that FOV slider like it’s a matter of life and death. No word has been heard from CDPR concerning the update, and the need is deafening.
Then came the discussion as to whether Cyberpunk will eventually launch on Game Pass. @Eduardosrn10 and others poke around on when Microsoft will brandish the title on its subscription service. @MajaderoMajado pointed that the game almost crossed the 40-million-sales mark; less than those who want it have already owned it-but you know what, free is free! With that, @joker5405 and @confusedbrit001 continue their back and forth about Xbox sales like a couple of corporate guys in a boardroom.
And now, shout-out to PS5 Pro dreams. @crabempero42345 and @Azunight309 are already thinking about that next-gen patch, with the latter stating the game “would benefit from a resolution boost.” It is not an unreasonable ask, given that CDPR knocked the next-gen update for The Witcher 3 out of the park. For now? There is FSR and a lot of crossed fingers.
So what do we have? If you’ve been putting off Cyberpunk 2077, now is arguably a great time to get into it, especially if you are on PlayStation Plus. It has really transformed from the shaky start it had, and Night City has never looked better than that. But if you’re waiting for the mythical Update 2.3 or PS5 Pro patch? Well, Big Stan will meet you at the Afterlife with a drink waiting.
And hey, if you do go in, watch out for those Scavs. Really. @FirecrackerOfNC was right-these guys are terrible.
