The Cyberpunk community on Twitter has been buzzing over the loving and witty tweet from CDPR for Mr. Adam Smasher’s birthday. The official account CyberpunkGame tweeted a screenshot of their chrome-plated nightmare with the caption, “You’re just in time — the battle on the dance floor is about to start! 💃🏻⚔️🕺🏽 Happy birthday, Adam Smasher! Best of luck in the dance-off! 🤭”.
Right. It’s going to be a dance competition.
Provided by @VickY___221B on Twitter, it gives us another angle of Smasher’s cybernetic beauty, a bit like he’s lining up to drop the hottest mixtape of 2077 or rip someone off the dance floor by power moves mid-cha-cha. Knowing him, it’s probably going to be both.
The comments section was flooded with birthday wishes, some demanding updates from the players. Some, like @LuvMeSumBots, grabbed the chance to beg for a New Game Plus-When, CDPR? Others, like @StrongStyleFB, threw jokes about Smasher eventually becoming a romanceable character- I mean who would’ve thought anything else could¿be a little romantic with almost 90% of a murder machine?
But gold in the replies came from @TRettsch, offering a total backhanded compliment: “Adam Smasher in the flesh😬 Happy birthday… You’re lucky today is your special day, otherwise I’d break your bones, if you have any left, you fully borged boogeyman🥳” So savage.
Conversely, the memes were not favorites for all. Some, including @Fitsoffreedom66 and @mlackin, attempted to extract the tiniest bit of news about Update 2.3 from the situation. Then there’s @rabzerrr, who went full caps-lock on his frantic plea: “On veut la mise à jour 2.3 @CDPROJEKTRED PLEAAAAAASE” (Translation: “We want update 2.3 @CDPROJEKTRED PLEAAAAAASE”).
Meanwhile, Boner Fans jumped in. Ayes, Fortnite. @0EnergyBoy was asking whether CDPR was going to be taking this through to round two with Cyberpunk collab skins for Lucy, Panam, and Jackie. Broadly, Jackie Welles skin with some tragic backstory emotes would really hit.
Then again, what are the plans beyond Phantom Liberty for more DLC asked @JasonRocco77, pointing out The Witcher 3 got multiple expansions. So while not confirmed by CDPR… If Night City can have a dancing Adam Smasher, then what cannot be?
For now, the image of Smasher grinding griddy somewhere in some corner of Afterlife shall do. And maybe, just maybe, keep an eye out for that elusive update 2.3.
