The DOOM: The Dark Ages collab is formally out through Corsair, DROP, and Elgato, and that’s totally metal in terminology! Demon-slaying aesthetics from keyboards to streaming gear. Some customers are nearly panting about the design and some are not that impressed.

First, let’s find out what this is all about (pun intended). There is a mechanical keyboard emblazoned with a DOOM design, and there is a mouse, and then there are interesting vibes of the barbaric and gothic kind: DOOM: The Dark Ages custom faceplate for the Elgato Stream Deck. If you have so far dreamt of having an environment set up that has a little taste of Hell in it, then this is your shore!

And now, the split among fans. Some are unable to contain their excitement for the garnering looks of the equipment. Comments like “Omfg I want all of it” and “It’s PERFECT 🔥” were flooding the replies while Elgato themselves were hyping their own contribution. With DROP then joining in with a fiery “We’re ready to slay.”

And the other half of the story. The price. Fans were one after the other pointing out how steep the price of this DOOM-branded gear is. One said it is “way cheaper” than 8BitDo’s Xbox-themed keyboard and mouse; another one just straight-up asked, “Damn that’s expensive. Is it worth it?”

And then comes the unrelated-to-the-collab controversy–DOOM: The Dark Ages itself. Some fans are livid about the physical edition of the game allegedly not having the full game on the disc, calling it “false advertisement.” One has even declared that they are “not buying this game now” because of it. Ouch!

Meanwhile, half of the other half is just trying to play the game. Another frustrated fan tweeted, “If only I could play the early access I paid for……” while another one begged to be bestowed a free PS5 code. And then there’s the poor guy or gal whose collector’s edition was sent to the wrong town without any support.

So yeah: A mixed bag. The collab is undeniably cool if you have a few bucks to throw around. And amidst the price back-and-forth and the game’s ongoing launch drama, the DOOM community still reeks of messiness.

So at the end of the day, for the hardcore DOOM fan with cash to spare, this is probably the one to blow all the money for in their setup. But if you don’t have the cash for that, then Bella might want to scratch off these and get cheapies, saving his/her/its (not sure) anger for the actual demons in-game.

Either way, one thing is clear: DOOM fans are never calm, and this collaboration is yet another reason for them to scream into the void. Or, you know, into Twitter replies. Same thing.
