Clock Drive Games is getting ready for their first game release on Steam this February 26. Warlander is a mixture of Dark Souls’ difficulty and Slay the Spire’s roguelike adaptability. You are a resurrected hero on a quest for revenge. Players will use a variety of abilities and power-ups but be warned as this game carries the penalty of permadeath.
The world is dark, bleak, and unforgiving. Players must master their own unique fighting style as they travel through an action-packed journey as a recently resurrected hero. This game is full of a unique art style and interactive environment that pulls players back round after round for a fully replayable experience.
The developers, Clock Drive Games, is an indie development studio based in Serbia. They are on a mission to turn dreams into games and currently have over 30 passionate game developers working on all their major projects. The studio is debuting their talents with Warlander showing off a unique twist at a story-driven swordplay based game.
The game comes with a steep promise. “We struck the perfect balance of sword-fighting gameplay, an in-game progression system, and punishing roguelike elements that captured the essence of the genre but also added our own twist to it. As an indie developer, we put fun and engaging gameplay at the center of player’s experience,” said Goran Rajsic, Creative Director for Clock Drive Games in their press release.
Players will find themselves in a unique journey due to the procedurally generated world. All the dangers and opportunities will be the same, but the path will differ in every playthrough. Players must learn to master the unique stamina-based combat system or face an immediate reset and their original path lost.
Every death costs you progress and experience, and as you play, the game gets increasingly harder. Slicing your enemies will reward you with new skills, but death immediately takes it away. This game is a heartless battle that gives a new meaning to meat grinder.
Sacrifice your enemies to the ancient god and live to fight over and over and over again. This game seems to do a great job combining skill and challenge into a beautiful balance with the threat of death at all times.
Warlander is planned for release on Steam later this month. Fans can find more information on Click Drive Game’s website and Twitter feed, where they post updates for all fans to access.
