The Free Title Update 2 for Monster Hunter will surely be an oddball, albeit for Capcom’s very own Capcom Spotlight event that will be held at 3pm PDT / 11pm BST on June 26. The buzzworthy tweet did not disclose a lot of information but did promise a full breakdown of what customers will be getting, and people in the tweets have been losing it since.
That said, we have timing first. Some seem skeptical about it. Stormandreas asks if the update is really going to come out in June, or was that just a cheap teaser. Meanwhile, some are saying, among them David9217, that it will be that Capcom classic: some kind of shadow drop right after the showcase, unannounced.
And then the never-ending drip-feed argument. RasterAsh is the succinct summing up of most people’s position: “Can we not just get a full base game on release these days?” Awkward. Some consider post-launch support for Monster Hunter to be world-class, while others want to see a complete product first. Forest__O_O would have none of that, countering with the argument that it isn’t exactly extortion to charge $70 and keep updating for over a year and half.
And now for the monster HP debate. Dré, AKA the Shadow Slayer, cheekily asked for a 100% HP increase for the monsters. Brutal. JDwasin, on the other hand, believes it might be just “1 or 2 monsters,” which… actually makes sense.
Oh, and perrichan flexed a fan design for Lava Tomb Gunlance, forged from “lava and ancient monster bones.” Nice design, eh?
So, mixed feelings. Very excited, but a little skeptical. Hungry but all worn out. Just a typical MH crowd, really. Tune on the 26th to see whether Capcom manages to pull one off—or if the hunters rebel.
And hey, if you are still grinding, perhaps a half-a-day break before the update drops is just what you need. Your thumbs will thank you.
