The launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been anything but smooth. Players have been bombarded with errors and crashes since the games launch on October 25. One error that has been driving gamers crazy is the Savannah error.
What is the Savannah error?
The error reads: “Unable to join game session, the host cannot be joined or gameplay is paused. Status: SAVANNAH.”
Users have been getting this error when trying to join a friend’s online session.
How to fix this error
Since Modern Warfare is still in its infancy, there is no guarantee that this process will work. However, it has worked for many players that have done these steps.
The players need to ensure that all updates have been downloaded for Modern Warfare. If either of the players isn’t up to date, then the Savannah error will appear since the game will be using data differently then the other player. In the early stages of Modern Warfare, updates are coming out all the time, so there is a chance the player has missed a download.
To update the game via Xbox One, follow these steps:
Go to My Games, locate Modern Warfare, select Manage Game, then locate Updates. An update should prompt if there is any.
To update the game via Play Station 4, follow these steps:
Go to Library and find Modern Warfare, press the options button, then locate and select Check for Update. The update should prompt if there is any.
To update the game via PC, follow these steps:
First, open Battle.net. Once you do that, Modern Warfare should automatically start searching for an update. If it doesn’t, then go to Modern Warfare in the app and then click on Options at the top of the game’s panel. There will be a button labeled Check for Updates, click it. Install any update available.
If updating the game doesn’t work, unfortunately, there isn’t anything else the player can do at this point. Infinity Ward will presumably roll out a patch to fix the Savannah error shortly.
Here is the official story trailer of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
It has been a rocky start for the highly anticipated Modern Warfare. Call of Duty is a staple franchise in the first-person shooter genre, so inevitably when things go wrong, the problems are amplified.
Right at the launch, eager players overloaded the servers, rendering gamers unable to log in. Modern Warfare was also causing Xbox One X consoles to hard crash.
Infinity Ward, the Modern Warfare developer, rolled out a title update during launch day to prevent hard-crashing and to mitigate errors.
Hopefully, Savannah will be dealt with quickly to save players from any more frustration. However, that does not guarantee that there won’t be any more disruptions.
