The craziest RGB shader has just been added into Destiny 2, free to take. Announced with no fanfare whatsoever, fashion, flair, worthiness, and pride parade style discussions immediately erupted on the forums.
Chromatically, this shader is on the complete scale of raving on steroids. The whole RGB color spectrum shifts, giving an Impressionistic treatment to the armor that would befit any modern-grade gaming PC. Some players now coordinate RGB LEDs in real life with the in-game drip; that is true dedication! But not everyone likes it as a matter of personal taste.
“This is a lie,” ClarkstrideR retorted on Twitter, “That Shadegleam shader bundle has been the best color-cycling shaders so far, unlike that so-called ‘best’ RGB shader.” Meanwhile, Auri_el was more blunt: “I’d never put it on armor, constant colour changes ruin fashion sense.” Ouch.
The free-paid discussion got heated quite quickly. “Yeah but [Shadegleam] costs money :(“just summed up the frustration; then Joshswix was going off talking about how redemption codes never work for him (relatable). Then… very different sort of discourse broke out as skyTurtle randomly declared, “Na I’m straight,” to the shader reveal.
Ty_lee205 soon took the conversation to weird political terrain by dishing a history lesson on LGBDQ+ rights after a snide comment was made while SummersoIdier20 dropped some Arabic that roughly translates as: “This is your downfall, I swear you could’ve avoided tweeting about this shader,” which… okay then.
Bungie has had one or two run-ins with rainbow aesthetics before: remember the Solstice glows? But this is next-level RGB madness that split the community. Some call it garish; others are trying to do full RGB loadouts. Now, to really ask the question: is this freebie a match for paid shaders or just a goofy toy that’ll be left to gather dust when the glitz wears out?
One thing’s for sure: Destiny fashion wars have been unlocked into the chroma level. Other than the free stuff, whether you are here to buy or trash Bungie’s color choice, get the code and give it a whirl. Just maybe don’t start any political debates in the comments. Unless you really want to.
