Since Respawn Entertainment had to reveal the most voted loadout for 1v1 Duels, the Apex Legends community has been buzzing, with lots of hard feelings. Shared on the official Apex Twitter account with the caption, “The votes are in…,” an image shows Mirage as the favorite: the R-99 SMG and Party Crasher shotgun. While this has some players excited, others are downright angry. Now, the replies are complete chaos.

First of all, the elephant in the room is Mirage. You know, the very one who went straight to the top, and the reactions have been split right down the middle. Some players, like @ItsB_Kun, are loving it, screaming out, “THATS MY MAIN RIGHT THERE I’LL BAMBOOZLE THE COMPETITION EASY.” Then, others like @BryceDa56460903 are confused, stating, “Who ever picked mirage yall are sped.” Then @abdura64_ is salty that Horizon didn’t win, complaining, “U know it’s bad when horizon loses to fuckin mirage. Buff my girl plz.” Classic Apex drama right there.

There is more on the fight than the Mirage. The R99 and Party Crasher loadout brings its own drama. Some, like @FrenchFry520, are all for it, posting “Mirage, R9, that map!?? Absolutely.” While others, like @NockyNockyX, called the setup “R5 Reloaded in worse” and demanded SMGs and shotguns instead. Then there’s @Exot1c_FPS, who outright said they don’t want to deal with the Hemlok in 1v1s, pleading for Respawn to make this loadout permanent for a day.

Of course, no Apex Twitter thread would be complete without players holding a grudge against the game. @Junkqtct demands that Respawn invest in an anti-cheat team for consoles, yelling, “your game is out of control and we are done wating for help against the cheaters.” @texasmadegeek is whining about no-reg shots (classic Apex problem) and asking for Vantage to carry more ult accelerants. And @AuclairAymerick is just trying to get a response from support about hacked accounts, saying, “j’en suis bientôt a 10ticket en 3semaines pas de réponse” (translation: “I’m about to hit 10 tickets in 3 weeks with no response”).

Then there is the whole debate on Arenas. @fir3fly99 is officially in mourning over the loss of OG Arenas and Ranked Arenas, tweeting, “Biggest mistake you guys made was not bringing bake full blown normal Arenas and ranked Arenas as it was before.” @williamjsherma1 is also pissed, saying, “No one asked for pre load outs either you all ruined arenas you guys literally don’t care anymore.” Oof.

Do not even try to forget utter anarchy—kind of like @WaxAlmighty asking for Solos instead of 1v1s, shouting, “WHY ARE WE TALKING ABOUT 1V1’S AND NOT RELEASING SOLO’S” with a dramatic “Im sad okay… 😭🫠.” Mood.

In any case, we believe Respawn achieved their intent in stirring up a conversation. Anybody who loves it or hates it, one thing is unquestionable: Apex Legends players are never short of sharing their opinions. At least it can be said that Mirage is finally getting a little spotlight.

So, what’s the next move? Who can tell? Maybe Respawn will take feedback to heart and actually start making changes. Or maybe they’ll just drop another cryptic tweet from on high and watch the uproar spiral out of control. So very, very Apex.
