Respawn just went in and dropped their newest Apex Legends event, Future Icons. The reactions are… well, the community is having a moment. The event brings in skins that are student-themed, with all players voted to choose the one “Most Likely to Succeed” amongst the Legends. But, as usual, Apex’s fanbase cannot decide whether to love the thing or throw it at the nearest wall with their controller.
First of all, the skins… The skins. Buyers rush to craft that Horizon outfit before the event ends; those particular designs are among the hottest at the moment. As for others, well, bald Wraith belongs to nightmares. Who gave it the thumbs-up? Was there a meeting? Did someone just raise their hand and say, “yes, this is the look”? Because the response is littered with gamers doing a strong side-eye toward that decision.
But it’s about more than just fashion. Players are going nuts about the ranked split, and um… it is a mess. Some say they crash mid-game, and then there are those furious that demotions feel harsher than a Kraber headshot. One player says he went from Diamond 3 to Plat 3 in what looks like a glitch, and well, his Twitter outburst was worthy of an ALL-CAPS plea. Respawn might want to look into that.
Then the whole “fix the servers” and “anti-cheat, please” noise starts, because, let’s be honest, that stuff is just Apex culture at this point. East Coast PlayStation players will tell you loud and clear that playing their matches feels like being in molasses. They will not even start on all the party system bugs—some party squads are still being blocked from joining up, which basically goes against the goal of a team-based shooter???
Well, not all feedback is salty. Some people are stoked about crafting those skins (finally, a win for the free-to-play crowd). Others are loving the new content, like that streamer who already has been grinding ranked like his life depends on it. Then there’s another person saying Octane is “a doctor’s worst nightmare,” just because that dude drinks an ungodly amount of energy drinks.
So what’s the verdict? Future Icons serves up that Apex chaos—some love it, some hate it, and everyone has their two cents. Would it be sufficient enough for luring in those lapsed bucks? Maybe. Are the bugs gonna be fixed before the next event? That’s really the question. Either way, class is in session, and the drama is already on a climb to the top.
