Respawn Entertainment showed clips of the winners in the Apex Legends Bocek Blast, giving them a maddening almost-picture-perfect bow-and-arrow spectacle where players were prying wild shot after wild shot. However, while the devs were celebrating the competition, the replies to the tweet very sadly spawned an overbearing rant about the state of the game.
The Bocek Blast, a limited-time event, had its players doing their utmost to pull off the most ridiculous kills with the Bocek Bow. Respawn put out a collection of highlight clips showing on-the-body-air mid-snipes, no-scope headshots, and trick shots so ridiculous that even the most hardcore of players had to give them a sort of noble acknowledgement. Instead of coming together to place heavy praise upon Respawn and the winners, the Apex Legends community found this platform to let their bitter grievances be heard.
One user, Swine Flaps, entered into a rage in all caps, spamming “FIX THE FUCKING GAME” under the tweet several times. Others joined in on the rant about cheaters, naming certain ones as “zen users” (a reference to users of Cronus Zen devices which afford unfair advantage). Ale SCC sarcastically applauded Respawn for seemingly “supporting zen users” in the winning footage, while UltimacloudxXx questioned whether any of those plays were legit or just “AMAZING GREAT AIM HITTING PEOPLE OUTA THE SKY YOU CANT EVEN SEE.”
Server issues got dragged into it too. Anus pointed out the irony of Respawn celebrating the event while the servers were down (again), joking, “LMAO and the servers are down again🤣🤣🤣🤣. Just give us the new split already.” Meanwhile, flicker1926115 was asking whether the servers were back up after earlier outages, only for someone to reply that “It was fixed but now it’s down again 🤣.”
Now, there were a few good posts along with the passable ones. JOH4NN4DL seemed to be in high spirits about the event and wondered if there’s going to be more challenges soon. DynamicWolf is using his/her/their voice demanding a Wattson heirloom skin, while Land00000000n is pitching for Arenas to become a permanent mode.
But the real drama started when SeanTims7, all in caps, exclaimed that Apex Legends is a “dead game” before getting roasted for being an active player in the replies. One user fired back with “Been ‘dead’ for 5 years I guess” and posted a screenshot of pretty well-thriving player numbers.
In the middle of chaos, the winners of Bocek Blast got their moment in the spotlight. The clips showed some seriously dirty bow action, and if anything, even with all the problems of the game, there is still a dedicated player base capable of insane plays. Whether Respawn would ever do anything about the nearly endless complaints about cheaters, server issues, and balance problems? For now, though, the Bocek Bow is shining bright.
And hey, if nothing else came out of it, at least we’ve got some scar-worthy clips to show off while we’re waiting for the next server crash.
