“The land of Davern is in crisis. Famine and Pestilence are spreading throughout the nation, and war cannot be far behind. As the noble Grey King, it is your role to lead your people through this dark period, transforming potential chaos into lasting order.

Such is the setting of the mood for the soon-to-be-released indie strategy game Yes, Your Grace, which has finally hit Steam after completing its Kickstarter campaign five years ago. Back in that Kickstarter, the game was scheduled with a completion date of August 2015, which it seems to have missed.

Why is it coming so late, you may ask? Being pushed back by a few months or so is one thing, but we’re talking about just under half a decade here. What the heck happened?

Reading through the Kickstarter updates can illuminate a bit of that. In the second half of 2015, the team announced multiple delays, including some major issues that couldn’t be released at the time. In March of 2016, the team announced that they were now working with One More Level as a publisher, and the team delivered one last update on December 22nd, 2016 before going silent until July of last year.

From there, the team gave a few backer-only updates and soon announced that they were switching publishers. They apologized for the silence, explained their absence, and got to work on finally delivering their 2015 promises.

Yes, Your Grace is developed by indie company Brace at Night, with the publishing being handled by No More Robots. At the moment, it’ll only be slated for a Steam release. Heavily inspired by Papers, Please, this monarchy-themed strategy planner has a unique method of letting you rule over a kingdom.

As the sovereign of Davern, you hear the petitions of your subjects, including your wife and daughters. Sometimes you’ll have poor peasants asking for coin or food, sometimes you’ll have your children asking you to solve a dispute. It’s up to you to decide who gets what and when, and who won’t be getting their wishes fulfilled.

In your efforts to run a kingdom, you’ll hire Generals, Witches, and Hunters to help you deal with the perils threatening your people. You’ll help prepare for battles and craft alliances through your diplomacy with your fellow sovereigns, and follow the stories of those that you interact with through your reign.

It’s been a long time coming, but it’s finally here. Yes, Your Grace is slated for a Steam release of March 6th, 2020.
