The conclusion of the 2019 Arena World Championship starts tomorrow during the Global Finals at Blizzcon. The tournament is centered around Blizzard Entertainment’s World of Warcraft as teams battle in PvP matches to determine the best roster in the world. The matches are structured as 3v3 Arenas, and each team has an eight-person roster.
The prize pool is USD 330,000, which has been raised by World of Warcraft players purchasing in-game toys.
What teams are competing in the Arena World Championship Global Finals:
This tournament has featured World of Warcraft PvP players across the world. These teams have faced off against other PvP teams throughout the year to determine who has what it takes to compete in the Global Finals.
There have been dozens of online tournaments this year, and they were open registration, allowing all teams to prove their abilities. The divisions have been separated through regions, and eight teams around the world have qualified for the Global Finals.
• Method Black – A team that has dominated the European region two years in a row, Method Black came in third at the last Blizzcon Global Final.
• Wild Card Gaming – A European team viewed as the “dark horse” of the tournament after their strong showing during the Summer Finals.
• Aztech – Another European team, Aztech, barely qualified for the finals. However, don’t underestimate them as their roster includes Blizzcon veterans.
• The Gosu Crew – Formerly known as “The Boys” is part of the North American region and is viewed as the second American seed even though they had rough showings at the Spring and Summer Finals.
• Cloud 9 – Viewed as fan favorites and also the North American favorites, Cloud 9 won both the Spring and Summer Finals.
• Unitas White – The Global Finals only Australian team, they are former APAC champions but are looked at as a lower level team.
• Unitas Blue – The best Latin American team in the world, they are making their second consecutive trip to the Global Finals with the same roster.
When will matches start and how can fans watch?
The matches will start on October 31, a day before Blizzcon starts. The first matches will determine which teams will compete in the upper bracket and which teams will compete in the lower bracket.
The tournament will continue on the second day of Blizzcon, Saturday, November 2. Gameplay will go on all day and will conclude with one team as the ultimate winner of the Arena World Championship.
If fans aren’t able to watch the finals in person, they can view it on official Warcraft Twitch channels. They will be streaming in English, French, German, Spanish, and Portuguese.
