One of the most amazing things that the gaming community does is come together for charitable events. We’ve seen it time and time again in as small a span of time as this year, with April only just now beginning. The Australian wildfires, the COVID-19 pandemic, and plenty of other world events have been met with huge numbers of fundraisers from gamers and streamers wanting to do what they can to help.
For April, a well-known World of Warcraft streamer named DesMephisto will be holding a fundraiser to help raise awareness and funds for the Autistic Self-Advocacy Network. DesMephisto has teamed up with several other well-known streamers in the World of Warcraft community to raise these funds.

DesMephisto is most known for his love of the Warrior class in World of Warcraft and the regular updates he provides Reddit with his leveling goals. His primary goal is to have 42 maximum level warriors, two for each race (one of each available gender). Currently, he’s only 5 away, needing both Vulpera genders, a Dwarf Male, and both Mechagnome genders.
Likely that dedication to warriors is what inspired the name for his fundraising drive, Warriors for Autism. DesMephisto himself lives with Autism, as do his two charity partners, Ian “RedShirtGuy” and Dderserei. The three together have taken to social media to raise funds through a battery of events in April.
DesMephisto has the following events planned for the rest of this month to raise funds:
- April 5th-10th: Warrior Speed Level
- April 11th: North America – All Warrior Raid for Eternal Palace and Ny’alotha, community sign up
- April 12th: 40 vs. 40 Warrior vs. Warrior brawl at Gurubashi Arena
- April 15th: Noblegarden Egg Hunt event, location and time to be decided
- April 17th: North America – WoW Trivia Night with Ian “RedShirtGuy”
- April 18th: North America and Europe: 20-60 Dungeon Leveling International
- April 23rd: To Be Decided: Guinness World Record attempt for Longest Time Playing WoW (pending approval from Guinness)
DesMephisto has some stunningly masochistic reward tiers as well. As the fundraising hits different milestones, he’ll… hurt himself, it seems, but for our entertainment. Quite a few of the rewards are him taking shots of hot sauce, including the famously hot Da Bomb. DesMephisto will also eat an onion like an apple if the fundraiser hits $3750.
As entertaining as these will be, hopefully your desire to do good with your wallet and support a noble cause will be what causes you to donate, but if it gets the money raised then that’s all that really matters! Keep an eye out for DesMephisto and his partners’ streams so that you can support this wonderful cause as well.
