When the Shadow of the Tomb Raider hit PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 last year, it didn’t make a lot of hype, but it still did well both on sales and reviews.

The most recent adventure of Lara Croft might have a slow start but before 2019, the game has sold more than 4 million copies, and it’s an amazing figure. The expectation of Square Enix is a bit low, so the publisher of the game is really happy with its achievement.

Eidos Montreal and Crystal Dynamics are glad by how the game performed both commercially and critically. US Gamer has interviewed Jonathan Dahan, the game’s producer and he said they would continue to produce DLC content because they like the results.

Dahan said Eidos Montreal is offering great DLC support since the launching of the game and it’s doesn’t usually happen for singular player games. It seems bizarre because there’s a perception that the game wasn’t highly acclaimed, but it was an erroneous one.

Because the most recent installment fared well enough, Dahan believes there will be more to come in the future. Square Enix will definitely yearn for more Lara Croft based games because it gained a lot of fans and profit from the recent installment. Dahan said it’s surprising if the publisher won’t ask for more Tomb Raider titles.

Fans know there will be a new series soon, but there could be some changes. There might be a reboot of the series, or there could be major changes if the game will be available or exclusive on a new console.

Even if Shadow of the Tomb Raider is relatively successful, it can’t be said that the game is a massive worldwide hit. So the enthusiasm of the fans for an upcoming sequel could just be lukewarm.

Heath Smith, Michel Leduc St-Arnaud, and Daniel Drapeau have designed shadow of the Tomb Raider, and it has won a lot of awards such as Gamer’s Choice Awards and G.A.N.G Awards.

It has received a lot of nominations too. However, it has received criticisms as well such as Zero Punctuation’s Ben Croshaw said the game is the 2nd most boring game last year, and the Rise of the Tomb Raider is 2015’s third most boring game. However, the game has managed to sell 4.12 copies as of December 2018.

Lara Croft has a lot of fans, and it’s most likely there will be more Tomb Raider games in the future. If fans will demand a new game, a publisher and some developers would probably respond.

Eidos Montreal might not be currently working on a new game because a new DLC had just arrived several months ago.
