OverclockersUK unleashed the Infin8 Altar system, a high-performance gaming station that integrates a gaming PC under the desk. That means your gaming desk is your gaming case. But it will set you back a cool $14,000 which makes it quite a fortune.
“Most of our flagship systems are hefty beasts, swallowing up the space on your desk because they rarely fit under it — nor, really, would you want to hide such stunning bits of kit under a desk,” said Scott Bentley, OverclockersUK Systems Manager. “So we started to look at alternatives to the standard super-tower or monster cube style systems. The best way to build a high performance, hero PC without taking up a load of space on the desk? Put it in the desk!”
The Altar is based on the $2000 Lian Li DK-05 gaming desk that doubles up as the gaming case and boasts RGB Lighting. The motorized height adjustment allows you to work or game when seated or standing. Lian included one external 5.25″ drive bay and four 3.5″ / 2.5″ internal 3.5″ drive bays. When it comes to connectivity, the desk comes with four USB3.0, two HDMI, two USB3.1 (Type-C) and HD Audio Front Ports. The unit can support up to two ATX PSU power supplies. A tempered glass at the top of the desk allows you to showcase your configuration.
Under the hood is an Asus ROG Rampage Extreme X299 DDR4 Motherboard. The processor is Intel Core i9-7900X, overclocked to 4.6GHz. Configured in SLI, the two Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080Ti 11GB graphics cards deliver excellent GPU power. Paired with the right monitor, it can play the ‘GPU-hungry’ titles seamlessly even in 4K resolution.
The processors are backed up by a 32GB (4x8GB configuration) 3200MHz Dual Channel DDR4 Kit. The Infin8 Altar has been configured with a Samsung 960 EVO 512GB NVMe SSD as the primary drive and a secondary Samsung 860 Evo SSD. Of course, there are other configuration options available, including Western Digital.
You will agree with me that running an overclocked processor and two GPUs is no joke. To guarantee efficient cooling, Infin8 Altar boasts a water-cooled system with three independent custom acrylic pass-through plates which mediate liquid flow across the entire system. The cooling system is not just efficient; the layout is aesthetic as well, especially in the dark!
While this is the standard configuration that OverclockersUK showcased for the 8Pack-inspired Infin8 Altar, slight customizations are possible. Please note that the Altar, like all other Infin8 gaming rigs, are built to order and take up to 35 days. But it’s worth the wait now that you won’t have much clutter around you; just the gaming desk and your gaming chair – that’s all!
