Many platforms have taken a poll from the community regarding their favorite games, with Steam being one of the most popular. They just released their list of games that performed the best commercially for 2019. They also revealed the Game of the Year for 2019 according to fan votes, which were gathered in a recent poll.

That game is none other than Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. That’s quite the achievement for the people at FromSoftware considering other nominees were Red Dead Redemption 2 and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. They were able to take the Sengoku period in Japan and inject it with so much personality in this video game.

The visuals are some of the best you can find for this generation of consoles. The rich forests and historic architecture really bring you into an incredible world full of so much fantasy and mystery.

It seems like despite Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice’s difficult nature, the PC community still treasured their experiences with the game. That’s an amazing accomplishment for the developer as well. It shows that even though you’ll probably end up dying a lot throughout your journey as Wolf, the fun nature will keep you coming back.

That isn’t to say there aren’t portions that will leave you extremely heated, ready to throw the controller at the nearest object. This game is extremely hard. And yet, it somehow captures your attention from start to finish. Getting past a difficult section or boss brings so much gratification that many other games simply didn’t provide in 2019.

Even crazier, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has a more difficult mode thanks to the modding community, which seems perfect if you’re one of those hardcore gamers willing to risk the brink of insanity.

2019 was an important year for gaming as we approach the next wave of consoles and saw the introduction of Google Stadia. Games like Sekrio: Shadows Die Twice show what potential there still is in the graphics and performance department.
