Unfortunately, the future of the Silent Hill series is looking grim.

The official website, silenthill.com, has been spotted for sale. The domain officially went up for sale in August but is currently available now.

BobVids exposed the news on his Twitter account, bringing Silent Hill fans together at the sad moment. BobVids is the co-creator and host of The Grate Debate, a Silent Hill-themed YouTube series.

The domain itself has gone mostly unused by Konami since it was originally registered over a decade ago.

The last resurgence of the series was Silent Hills, a survival horror game that would be developed by Kojima Productions for the PlayStation 4. it would have been the ninth installment in the series. Many fans had high hopes for the new title since it was being directed by both Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro.

Fans may remember the demo of P.T. (Playable Teaser) released free on the PlayStation Store in mid-2014. Norman Reedus, who quickly gained fame thanks to his appearance as Daryl Dixon on The Walking Dead, was portraying the protagonist and lending his voice.

A few months later, Silent Hills was canceled by Konami, which made fans upset to see where the project would go. A few weeks ago, more details about P.T. were revealed, but there was little else known about the game, such as the storyline.

Konami has previously released the Silent Hill HD Collection in 2012 but received a critical response. Many were pleased to have access to Silent Hill 2 and 3 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 but were disappointed by the performance.

With the lack of Silent Hill news, in general, this last revelation has only made many fans lose hope of ever seeing the series reborn. At least for now, there’s news of the series’ Art Director Masahiro Ito taking on a lead role in a new unnamed project.

The domain name currently costs around $10,000. For such a popular series, even the cost of the domain is low for how popular the games were among fans.
