Scheduled for 14:00 UTC on the 10th of July, Rare are gearing for the very first, massive community-led Sea of Thieves Community Direct, and player chatter with a few demands is already taking place. This event does indeed ostensibly promise reveals about the next two Seasons, massive changes to the Insider Programme, and much more. Going by the replies on Twitter, though, the community has VERY SPECIFIC demands.

For starters, here’s a little bit of what is known. The Community Direct will be streamed live on Twitch and YouTube, and Rare said there is “a lot to cover.” Is that vague? Absolutely, but devs have bombshells to drop during these streams. In the last stream, hints about new factions and world events were dropped, so expectations for this stream are quite high.

That the players want, however, is a different matter. Going through the replies is like reading through a pirate’s wishlist: some are completely reasonable, and some… are just out there. McChickeney is on “Day 651 of asking for the full Fallen Sea Dog set” and I respect that. Meanwhile, oldgoldsot has decided that the “much requested feature” mentioned in the announcement must be loadout saving. Well, maybe it is. Maybe not. TippToppHansiI is hoping with all his might that it is photomode.

There is chaos in the faction. LameGamer speculates about explosive rowboats (??), while LordClopax… is still miffed about being banned from the Insider Programme for questioning a vendor’s gender. That’s an entire thing. And then mrt_mcfly wants “OG 1-tap blundys” back because, I quote, “this whole zAnY core gameplay direction removes those clutch moments of saving your ship when all felt lost.” Deep.

But the true drama? The Insider Programme changes. N1CKsclusive demands that public insiders would “actually utilize feedback,” whereas Eduard Khil is over there roasting anyone who thinks Rare listens to feedback at all. “They don’t listen to feedback at all. Are you kidding? LOL,” he says. Ouch.

DSluggins is calling out for a new anti-cheat system, releasing “HG was popping off before the new cheats were released recently.” Meanwhile, BananaStove argues, “Hourglass in S8 with no anticheat was better than it is now.” So yeah, splits decided on that matter.

Meanwhile, Valor_Omega_SoT is “manifesting One Piece cosmetics,” which… honestly, that would be hype. Rare, please make it happen.

And that definitely sets the tone for tomorrow’s stream: new seasons, insider shake-ups, maybe even explosive rowboats (???). What is clear, though, is that the Sea of Thieves community has a lot of opinions. Whether or not Rare will tackle any of them… Tune in to see.

And hey, maybe if nothing else, the Fallen Sea Dog set will finally be here. Maybe.
