Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has only been out for a handful of days, but the developer is wasting no time in addressing various bugs that happened to ship with the game. The work of a Jedi is never done.
The patch, which is rolling out for PC as of the time of this writing, will fix a few different things. While piloting the AT-AT on the Wookie homeworld of Kashyyyk, players were experiencing some flickering textures. Respawn nipped that one in the bud. Dynamic resolution settings weren’t saving properly, but they should be okay now. Another issue players ran into was the arrow keys not responding as they should within the menus. That one should be fixed, as well.
Lastly, sometimes the game would just generally slow down and loading times would drag on much longer than intended. Respawn has shortened up those loading times for a faster, less excruciating experience. Long load times are the worst. There have been reports of framerate issues, but it’s hard to say if those will be addressed because the patch notes are a little bit vague.
Respawn jumping on this so quickly shows that they really care, and the framerate issues have been mentioned in several reviews, so it’s probably a safe bet that the developer is aware of and addressing those hiccups as well. This isn’t a day-one patch. A day-one patch indicates that a developer knew it was shipping an unfinished product and had to finish it post-release. This feels more like Respawn taking pride in their product and listening to the feedback and fan community.
While the PC patch is on its way out, the patch for Xbox One and Playstation 4 will be out later this week and will address the same issues.
While there are definitely more reviews on the way – perhaps some outlets needed more time to come to a conclusion – the reception Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has gotten so far is a warm one, which a few outlets calling it the best single-player Star Wars experience in a long while.
Fallen Order takes place after Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, after all but a few Jedis have been wiped out as a result of Order 66. Former Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis, laying low as a junkyard worker, is forced to go on the run after he’s caught using his force powers.
