Next month’s PlayStation Plus free games lineup has been leaked ahead of the official announcement, which should happen sometime next week as March is coming to a close.
The leak comes via PlayStation Access, which is an official PS YouTube channel, who accidentally uploaded a video early that revealed the two games that’ll be free to install next month.
One of next month’s free games is Dirt Rally 2.0, which is one of Codemasters’ many racing titles. In the game, players will compete in stage events that are timed, and the events will take place on both tarmac and off-road terrain. Also, there are varying weather conditions for each event, and the events will be hosted at courses located in Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, Poland, Spain, and the United States.
The second free game that was accidentally revealed by PlayStation Access is a big one, as Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will go free for PS Plus users next month. Of course, this was the most recent major title that was produced by the Sony-owned studio, and it features the series’ main protagonist — Nathan Drake — as he, his brother Sam, and Victor “Sully” Sullivan hunt for the lost treasure of famed pirate Henry Avery.
Barring any delays, Naughty Dog is set to release The Last of Us Part II at the end of May, which is probably why they’re making Uncharted 4 free in April. It would probably make more sense to have The Last of Us Remastered be one of next month’s free games, but it was already free for PlayStation Plus users last October.
There’s a slight chance that Sony will change next month’s PlayStation Plus free games lineup due to the accidental leak, but it doesn’t seem likely, especially given that The Last of Us Part II is coming in May, which is likely why Sony wants to showcase one of Naughty Dog’s best titles with Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
It also might be worth noting that, even though the events of Uncharted 4 seemed to suggest that the series is over, Neil Druckmann, the creative director at Naughty Dog, said that the Sony-owned studio might make a fifth main installment to their third-person action/adventure franchise in the future.
So for now, it looks like Dirt Rally 2.0 and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will go free for PlayStation Plus users next month, and Sony will likely make it official next week.
