Games that feature large mech suits have always been popular. They let gamers live out their wildest imaginations. It’s like being in an unstoppable machine that can unload a ton of damage within seconds. One of the better mech series in video game history has been Mechwarrior. It has built up quite the following over the years, and for good reason. These games feature so many amazing mech suits and distinct combat action.
We’re now on Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries, which has a December release date and is being developed by Piranha Games. Given that the fourth installment came out nearly 19 years ago, fans are hyped about a new release. These games are so much fun to play, and judging by trailer announcements, this latest installment is shaping up to be quite the BattleTech title.
The developer thankfully is showing off more of this game in action leading up to its December release. The video that was just released is roughly 4 minutes long and shows off some awesome gameplay. It’s definitely a video you want to check out if you’ve wondered how this game will play out and what sort of customization options you’ll have access to.
Right away, it’s clear how much better the graphics are in this latest installment. We also see a first-person perspective, which just further immerses you in these unique battles. The environments that you’ll be traversing through are destructible. Seeing buildings topple over after being blasted with a missile is certainly memorable. It’s clear the developers have spent a lot of time getting the visuals and combat mechanics down perfectly.
It then goes into a points system that can be used to upgrade mechs. A huge part of this game will be completing missions and doing as much damage as you can, so that when the point totals are read at the end of the mission, you have a lot of options. This progression system looks extremely addicting. You can just imagine how much further you’ll want to progress in the beginning, as to get rid of a low-powered mech in favor of one that’s stronger and faster.
The trailer also shows the base that you’ll be using to adjust and upgrade your mechs. Seeing the scale of the user next to their mech is downright jaw-dropping. It really instills just how large these mech suits are. This gameplay footage should get you hyped for Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries if you weren’t already. December couldn’t come fast enough.
