Today, Konami unveiled yet another sneak preview of MGS Delta: Snake Eater DLC Pack, and the video gamers, well, they have thoughts. Apart from the annoyance from grating footsteps, the sneak suit of PW version is supposed to grant the player a little superiority while moving around stealthily. However, it has not just brought excitement, as a few other players are casting suspicious glances at the whole “DLC before release” feel.

In fact, the suits affect gameplay by basically giving Snake an advantage in moving undetected. And it is a truly nice feature for a game whose basis is sneaking past angry foes in the jungle. However—and here lies the rub—it is tied to an early pre-order ticket or DLC, and hence, the crux of continued outrage.

The Twitter user @god_jokes777 commented in the fine print on the fifth line that the suit, along with others, can be unlocked in the base game. Others like @JohnWel15604142, however, are not buying it. Why not just include it in the regular game? he tweeted. A very fair question considering that the price for the base game is rather imaginable. Then, @ReaprayActual summed up the mood of the audience perfectly: “Dlc announced before release…”

The creative commentary then continued onwards and upwards. @VenturousGamer sarcastically suggested that Snake should try sneaking around naked for the “ultimate challenge.” Certainly a radical opinion to take there. Opposite to that, @KrautMeister88 dropped his loyalty-bomb with the words: “My man Kojima said he won’t play this so I can’t either.” Harsh, but hey—Metal Gear fandom has opinions.

Others are not mad, just excited for more Metal Gear. @TehParalyzer wants Konami to remake Peace Walker next, and @TB0wne dreams about co-op. Then there is @IHateDS3, who says: “Raise the price if it means more polish, Konami.” Now that’s some Ironclad support.

The elephant in the room is Kojima’s absence. The man’s name came up countless times in replies, players divided on whether Delta can actually measure up to the original without him. @DeciMadueke dropped the real truth: “I only hope this game is a success so that you do what you should have done from the beginning: a NEW mgs game!”

Oh, and marketing? Another story. @FPSthetics urged Konami to “actually market this game outside of small clips,” while @SubmarineTower joked about the promo being “everywhere” on their timeline. Mixed messages, for sure.

Then we have international feedback: @ArturSitarz demands Polish subtitles; @esteban_angle questions in Spanish whether Konami even has a marketing department; and @OkabeAmadeus requested in French, “J’ai tellement besoin de cette dose” (“I need this so bad”). Truly a worldwide hype.

So is there a final verdict? The Metal Gear Solid Delta DLC suit may be in itself cool, but over in the realm of Twitter lies the real story. They are with their price gripes, Kojima loyalty tests, and naked Snake memes—quite a ride Konami will have to navigate before launch. One thing is clear: Snake’s return is going to be loud.
