Konami has announced an exclusive partnership with UEFA Euro 2020. While EA Sports FIFA dominates the World Cup tournament as well as the Euro League, Konami is also seeking greener pastures. And they just got it right with this new partnership. In addition, there will be an eSports tournament and a new exclusive Argentine club.
UEFA Euro 2020 will come to PES 2020 later on during Q2 2020 as free DLC. It will add over 50 European national football associations, national teams’ kits, official EURO tournament balls and faithfully recreated hosting stadiums as well as player likeness courtesy of 3D scanning.
The DLC will also tag along with an eFootball PES 2020-exclusive eSports tournament managed by UEFA. “As part of our mission to allow more players to experience the joy of esports, “eFootball” – combining esports and football – was added to the title of the series and with “eFootball PES 2020″, we will also introduce a brand new type of esports competition,” said Konami.
According to Konami, the tournament will consist of two separate competitions. First is “eFootball Open” which will be open to all users on the in-game mode “Matchday.” The other competition is “eFootball Pro” where players take on top eFootball teams donning their favorite football club colors.
In other news, Konami has spread its wings to the Argentine soccer world by adding Club Atlético River Plate to the list of PES 2020-exclusive clubs. This new partnership has forced the renaming of the Buenos Aires club to Núñez. Club Atlético River Plate joins Atlético Boca Juniors which is also in an exclusive partnership with Konami so Argentine fans can relive the Superclásico.
Konami has been keen on bringing on board more exclusive teams and tournaments to keep up the pace with archrivals, EA Sports. Already, the Japanese videogame company has sealed the deal with Barcelona and Juventus. Now, two of the best soccer stars and clubs are exclusively on PES even though the real player likeness is retained in FIFA.
Other teams in partnership with Konami include Manchester United, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and AC Milan, just to mention a few. Konami also announced that it has non-exclusive rights to the Italian Serie A competition. This means the Serie A body logo, trophies, and associated badges will feature in the upcoming PES 2020.
Already, Konami has released the eFootball PES 2020 demo and fans can’t wait for the full game. Fans still have to be patient as the latest PES franchise game will be hitting the stores as from September 10. The game will be available on PlayStation4, Xbox One, and PlayStation4. The eFootball PES 2020 mobile version will come later on in October.
