Julian “Tarzaned” Farokhian had an emotional victory-slash-exit from the Twitch Rivals Tournament after a poor showing. Shortly after he and the rest of Team Tyler1 were crowned victorious in the tournament, he took to Twitter to explain his poor performance.
According to Tarzaned himself, he was emotionally distraught after discovering that he had been given a thirty-day ban from Twitch following a profanity-laced toxic tirade against a player deliberately trolling in his game.
Team Tyler1, AKA the Shadow Dogs, consisted of Tarzaned and several other professional players, including Max “Soligo” Soong, Alex “Xpecial” Chu, Adrian “1Adrianaries1” Riven, and Tyler “Tyler1” Steinkamp himself. The team took the Twitch Rivals tournament this year, winning the tournament outright against Team Nightblue3.
Tarzaned’s ban came from an extremely volatile rant that he unleashed against another player that deliberately trolled Tarzaned and his team. While this player will rename anonymous (why make them famous?), he’s been known to show this behavior in games with Tarzaned on stream multiple times in the past.
To be clear, Tarzaned’s rant was undoubtedly inappropriate, and his suspension is completely justified and deserved. The things that he said, which will not be repeated here for multiple reasons, were vitriolic and savage, as he himself has admitted.
But while that might be the case, it’s the height of injustice that the player that his anger was directed at is allowed to continue doing these things. To be clear, League of Legends didn’t ban Tarzaned, and his ban comes from Twitch.
But, to hear Tarzaned tell the story, this player was also viciously attacking him on Discord, launching racial epithets and verbal abuse at him. Their performance in the game was purposefully terrible to ruin the game for four other players. Given the attention the story is getting, there’s no reason whatsoever for Riot not to suspend, if not ban, this player.
It seemed like the perfect redemption arc for Tarzaned, who is well known for his toxic and temperamental attitude. Tyler1, who led the team, is the king of the redemption story after being permabanned from League of Legends not but a few years ago. His reformation story is the redemption arc of the decade and has even earned him the runner-up for Streamer of the Year in 2018. With him at the helm, it was a wonderful cap to Tarzaned’s own arc.
Unfortunately, that arc has ended. To end off, here are Tarzaned’s own words on the subject:
“I’m extremely sorry for everything.
For the first time I could look at my chat on my other monitor and every time I would cry.
I’m truly grateful for everything my community, supporters, team, girlfriend, and family have done for me to get here, but unfortunately, I ruined everything again.”
