Mortal Kombat 11 is one of the most anticipated video games of 2019. Ever since gameplay footage first released, fans of the MK universe have wanted more details as far as which characters would be on the roster.
We already know for certain that former women’s mixed martial arts champion, Ronda Rousey is taking the role of Sonya Blade. Then, there were rumors of John Cena playing Stryker. Reports even surfaced of Shaggy from Scooby-Doo making an appearance. They were just rumors, unfortunately.
Creators of MK11 have officially announced that Jade will be in the upcoming title. This is incredible news if you’re a fan of the original Mortal Kombat games. Jade has played such an important part in the franchise. She’s fought alongside Earthrealm warriors and has one of the most iconic weapons. She’s also been portrayed alongside Shao Kahn, representing him as an assassin.
In a recent trailer reveal, Jade is shown sporting her iconic staff. It glows green with energy, which is particularly pleasing to look at. Her skin resembles that of a zombie, featuring green tones and veins running throughout. This portrayal seems to indicate that Jade isn’t fully human, possibly from the infamous Outworld. Despite her green tones, she looks as beautiful as ever.
As far as her gameplay mechanics, there are a lot of things to highlight. First and foremost, she seems extremely agile. Her quick movements and teleportation abilities should make for hours of fun. Her throwing blades are also worth noting. They can unleash a lot of damage from across the stage. Going back to the staff, it looks like a fun time. Players can unload heavy blows without getting too close and being countered.
Jade’s special attack is also pretty terrifying. It starts out with her teleporting to the back of her opponent, where she drives a dagger down the spine. From there, she teleports back to the front and slashes the throat. For the finale, Jade throws the dagger up in the air and crushes it in the temporal lobe. You can’t create better moves than this.
All of these action sequences take place in the span of two minutes, but there are so many shining moments. Jade will truly be a force to be reckoned with in Mortal Kombat 11. The game is set to come out on April 23rd for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Release day can’t come soon enough!
