Microprocessor manufacturer and tech giants, AMD and Intel, have been up against each other in pulling off the best innovations. In recent years, they have been fighting to get the best PC components in the market.
While AMD has released some of the most notable microprocessors with incomparable speeds, Intel is also tailgating the competition. But this time, they might be falling over as the recent benchmarking leak on their Cascade Lake X falls behind AMD’s platform performance.
The specs were spotted at the Geekbench Browser website, detailing every aspect of the processor’s performance. It listed both the single-core score and multi-core scores, which in many sense, was a little lagging compared to the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X multi-core entry.
The Cascade Lake X scored 44,046 with its multi-core benchmark while the AMD entry had 44,160 multi-core benchmarking grades. If the leaked test results are accurate, Intel might have a hard time launching their new microprocessor later this year.
It is also worth mentioning that mainstream and high-end desktop microprocessors are not really worthy of comparison because they are targeted towards different market segments. However, HEDT processors are designed for professionals and the creative as they require memory and graphics-intensive setups. As such, the need for computing power is crucial for their works and can be reflexive on the microprocessor’s price.
So for example, Intel’s last generation of Core i9, the 9920X model, was retailed at a hefty $1,189. And it might be possible that its successor will be around the same price range. Nonetheless, we still aren’t sure as the tech giant has not released any information yet.
The new Intel microprocessor might have a higher price than AMD’s flagship that’s already half the price. Although demand and supply have already affected the value of the Ryzen 9 3900X. Currently, the 12-core Ryzen 9 3900X is priced at $579, a 16% mark up from its original $499 value.
Although we still do not know much of the precise details of the new Intel processor, the leaked benchmark score might have some honesty to it. More information will be released as the Cascade Lake X nears its launching. Until then, we can just rely on these leaks and figure what Intel’s next moves are.
It may be an understatement, but at least we see Intel getting back to the tech race tracks once again.
