At the end of last month, Infinity Ward revealed their next Call of Duty game, as a trailer for the new Modern Warfare game dropped back on May 30. Of course, the developer didn’t show much gameplay in the reveal trailer, but they did announce its release date, revealing that it’ll become available for consoles and PC on October 25.
Since the game’s very first trailer dropped, Infinity Ward hasn’t revealed much more about the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, aside from sharing a few screenshots during E3 week. But, the aforementioned screenshots didn’t really give away any more information regarding the game, aside from the fact that the Juggernaut Suit will be returning to the game in its various online multiplayer modes.
Also during E3 week, many were wondering if we’d see more from the new Modern Warfare game. But, as previously mentioned, Infinity Ward decided to not reveal any significant information regarding their new project.
There is some good news though, as it does look like a gameplay reveal is coming at some point in the near future, at least according to Infinity Ward’s studio art director, Joel Emslie.
Over in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare subreddit, a poster asked why Infinity Ward hasn’t told fans when they’re planning on revealing some gameplay, and in response, the game’s art director said: “almost there….stay on target!”
The only other major details that are known about the game are related to its campaign mode, which thankfully will be included in the upcoming Call of Duty release. Of course, many probably remember that the single-player mode was not included in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, which was released in October of last year.
When it comes to the story in the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, players will have more freedom than they’ve ever had in any of the previous titles. Sure, the game will have a linear story with pre-rendered cutscenes, so the story will shake out the same way no matter what. However, the player will have more freedom as to how they go about completing missions.
For most players though, the single player is a small part of the overall Call of Duty experience, as the bulk of its players will spend their time playing online. So, it’s very easy to see why fans of the series are begging for a gameplay reveal, which, as previously mentioned, should be happening in the very near future.
With the game’s release date being roughly four months away, Infinity Ward will likely reveal some gameplay before the end of the summer.
