It was recently reported that Infinity Ward, the developers behind the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, is planning on revealing gameplay from their upcoming game on August 1. However, on Friday, they decided to release five new minutes of raw gameplay in 4K.

The gameplay footage was taken from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s new Gunfight mode, which is a 2v2 multiplayer experience. You can take a look at the raw gameplay in the video below.

In addition to sharing the new gameplay footage, Infinity Ward provided the following statement, which was directed at their fans.

“You asked, we listened. Captured in 4K on PlayStation 4 Pro, we’re excited to share raw gameplay of Gunfight, a new fast-paced, close quarters, 2v2 multiplayer mode coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. And Gunfight is only a fraction of what’s to come.”

Also in the statement, Infinity Ward pushed their big reveal of Modern Warfare’s multiplayer universe, which, as previously mentioned, will happen on August 1.

After the big reveal at the beginning of next month, it’ll likely be a quiet time for the longtime CoD developers, at least until late-September or early-October, which is when the next and final trailer will likely be released, as the game is currently scheduled to drop on October 25.

Ever since last month’s E3 event, Infinity Ward has given out a good amount of details regarding the campaign mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which is rumored to be dark and controversial. Of course, dark and controversial storylines have been featured in CoD games in the past, most notably during the “No Russian” mission back in Modern Warfare 2.

The game’s single-player campaign promises to deliver players more freedom as to how they carry out their missions. Infinity Ward has also said that, while players will strongly be encouraged to be a good soldier, the game won’t prevent players from performing tasks and completing missions in a dishonorable way.

However, while players will have a good amount of freedom during campaign missions, their actions won’t have an impact on how the main narrative unfolds, because, like in all previous Call of Duty titles, Modern Warfare will have a linear narrative with pre-rendered cutscenes.

It’s also been rumored that a Battle Royale mode will be added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare either upon release, or shortly after it’s released. But for now, all we can do is wait until August 1 to see more regarding Infinity Ward’s upcoming game.
