While longtime Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward hasn’t yet shown any multiplayer gameplay from their upcoming Modern Warfare title, which is set to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC this coming October. But, despite that, they have confirmed a few things regarding gameplay, one of which is something completely new to the Call of Duty universe.

In all previous Call of Duty games, and in most first-person shooters, players were never able to continue looking down the sights while they’re reloading. But, according to Mark Grigsby, the animation director for Infinity Ward, that’s going to change when Modern Warfare is released in a few months.

“One other thing we added this year is the ADS [Aiming Down Sight] reload,” said Mark Grigsby on Activision’s official blog. “In the past, if you’re ADS, and you’re shooting and you reload, the weapon would go off to the side, and you’d have to retrain to get to your target. This time if you reload, it stays on the target, so you can stay in the battle.”

Another feature that will be added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is that players will no longer be forced to reload an entire clip if they don’t have to. In the past, if a player wanted to reload after only using half of the magazine, then the animation would force them to eject the entire thing in order to put a brand new one in. But, in the upcoming CoD: MW, if a player only needs to reload half of the magazine or even as little as two bullets, then the game will make that adjustment for you. This animation is being called a “tactical reload.”

So far, Infinity Ward has only produced one trailer, which dropped at the end of May, and a few multiplayer screenshots that didn’t really reveal much of anything, aside from the fact that the juggernaut suit will be making its return in Modern Warfare.

Recently, the developer did confirm that they’re almost ready to reveal gameplay from Modern Warfare’s multiplayer mode, which is what most CoD fans are clamoring to see.

Most of the details that have been confirmed about the game are directly related to its single-player campaign, which will reportedly be very dark and controversial. But, as previously mentioned, it shouldn’t be too long before Infinity Ward finally releases footage of what Modern Warfare’s multiplayer mode will look like.
