Apex Legends Season 5, Fortune’s Favor, launched this week. It brought a new character, Loba, massive changes to King’s Canyon, and PvE quests. The season has also brought along a few problems, including a problem with no regs on your shots.
What are no regs? This is when the hit registration between your end of the server and your opponents aren’t matched up. You might have the sound cue you’ve hit a bullet on an enemy Gibraltar, but check the death recap and you’ll see no damage inflicted.
This server-side hotfix patch was designed to reduce the frequency of no regs in-game. However, if you’ve played much over the past few days, you will have seen that the hit registration problems are still common.
Many have taken to social media and Reddit to share their stories of missed shots, audio bugs with hit registration, and the strange lag that seems to be inflicting the servers even without the dreaded red symbols in the corner of the screen.
The most frustrating aspect of poor hit registration is the fact that you will often see the blood come off the character you’re hitting. Whether it’s Wingman shots, the Mastiff, or the R-99, this no reg problems make the game pretty unenjoyable at times.
Hit registration is also a problem across all platforms, with players reporting issues on PC, Xbox and PlayStation. Despite the release of a new Middle Eastern server based in Bahrain, many players in South Africa and Australia need to move to other servers to play – this could be making the problem worse.
Apex Legends doesn’t have the best history with its server-side issues. EA is notoriously poor when it comes to server support, with many outages and ongoing problems affecting players.
Hopefully, over the next few days, Respawn again addresses these hit registration issues. Players who have made a return to the game for Season 5 are being turned away because of this small, but game-breaking issue. There’s nothing like emptying a clip of R-301 into a Pathfinder only for them to turn around and delete you.
