Fortnite players, brace yourselves: Blitz Royale will be available for four extra weeks, and insane collaborations will blow the roof off. Exploring deeper into the server files bring to light evidence that Dragon Ball, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Mortal Kombat will be unleashed on this chaotic mode, thus spilling a full-blown pop culture clash.
So, what is Blitz Royale, really? For those who have yet to enter, it is a faster-paced, adrenaline-drenched take on the classical Battle Royale in Fortnite. Matches are shorter; storms quickly close after little time remains for circle formation; loot lies everywhere. Mass chaos at its best, and teat players could not get enough of. It was so popular that Epic Games extended the run from its previous phase-out date.
And then the leaks come along. Dragon Ball glamorized some of its antics in Fortnite. Goku, Vegeta, and even an alleged mythic-level device called Kamehameha caused quite a stir. Now, it looks like that Masters of Animation will be making a grand return, perhaps accompanied by some shiny brand-new goodies. Backing the Jujutsu Kaisen rumors is the potential arrival of Yuji Itadori or Satoru Gojo himself. And then it is Mortal Kombat, because who doesn’t want to see Scorpion or Sub-Zero wielding a shotgun?
Absolutely everything has been driving the players nuts. While @MatteoDiPalma11 cries out, “Dragonball lets GOOOOO!!!!,” you have @annatokesi shared on Twitter that she’s disappointed and would rather have had My Hero Academia back than Jujutsu Kaisen. Then, there is @Mahveer_, jokingly saying, “At this point, it’s less a game and more a pop culture yard sale.”
Yet, some still remain dissatisfied. Some like @GabWEB3_0 share their notion that “it’s not fun anymore.” Whereas others such as @ItsZephyrx are pleading with Epic for the mode to be made permanent already, tweeting: “Just make the gamemode permanent tbh.”
The leaks became a nice opportunity for wishful thinking. @llemeTheWitcher hopes for a Witcher week of some sort, with Ciri and Yennefer skins coming back into the game. And @FN_Assist is fully behind an Attack on Titan collab again, tweeting, “Attack On Titan week 🙏.”
No one really knows at what order these will be dropping. @kopekopee asked: “In what order will it be?” Meanwhile, @ConnorMerc2683 is all in for just “anime week” rather than the shows getting their own spotlight.
One thing I can say for sure is that Blitz Royale is here to stay. Love it or hate it, it still goes to show Epic is laying big bets on this mode. That said, with these collabs, it’s almost impossible not to join in the hype.
So, jack in your weaponry, among a Karate-straight charge in your KI, and hold the line: stands for much wilder times for Fortnite.
