Released in 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2 has been a dominant title in the console scene, but unfortunately, PC gaming fans are locked out from the Western action-adventure game.
Recently, there have been several rumors suggesting the Red Dead Redemption sequel is coming to the PC platform, and all the leads sound true.
Late last week, on one of the GTA forums, a user by the name VideoTech UK said he had found sufficient evidence pointing to an RDR2 for PC.
“Howdy GTA Forums Community, The long-awaited PC version for Red Dead Redemption 2 is definitely coming in the future, I have datamined Red Dead Redemption 2’s files and came across a file that holds PC presets and settings,” wrote VideoTech UK.
In this latest leak, there are a few things to note. First, there are clear monitor settings, perceived to be the settings for the PC game. You can clearly see the grass quality, particle settings, shader settings, motion blur, and so much more. All these are settings based on PC gameplay – not Xbox or PlayStation.
The leak further suggests that RDR2 will have DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 support. This is in tandem with another leak released by a GTA Forum user, @Fun 2 who also found leads to a RDR2 on PC deep inside the code.
And this is not the only leak for Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC. There have been several shreds of evidence that suggest Rockstar Games. Inc will be bringing the action-adventure game to the PC platform (Microsoft Windows).
Some time back, Rockstar Games employees had updated their LinkedIn profiles suggesting they are working on the PC version of RDR2. But the references were quickly pulled down.
In July, a Twitter user, and freelance designer JakoMako51 mined a Rockstar Social Club update. He found several instances of Red Dead Redemption 2 PC achievements, which are clear evidence Rockstar is working on a PC version of the game.
Strauss Zelnick, the Take-Two CEO, has also suggested that it won’t be a downside for Rockstar Games to bring RDR2 to the PC platforms. This was during an earnings call and considering he was addressing investors, this cannot be a mere dream.
From the above claims, it is clear beyond doubt that Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to PC. It will be the same case as it was with Grand Theft Auto V. It took around two years for Rockstar Games to bring GTA V to the PC platform.
