Mortal Kombat 11 is no stranger to leaks. Back last year, dataminers were able to pick through the game’s information and pick out a handful of DLC characters. Just a few days ago, we reported on the minds behind the project themselves accidentally leaking a new DLC fighter, Ash from Army of Darkness fame, in a promotional email sent out to players.
It seems that one leak this week, though, wasn’t enough. Recently, dataminers managed to snag a bit more information out of the game’s files. Supposedly, they tell the tale of as many as eleven more DLC fighters still heading down the pipeline.

We’ll place the tweet below, but it seems that the information was gleaned from looking through the predetermined character slots at launch. The number was decided as the game was coded and filled as characters were added, with the most recent character, Spawn, filling out the 31st slot. All in all, there are 42 slots, meaning that eleven of these slots are yet to be filled.
By that logic, these 11 slots have more characters on the way. The only way for these slots to be filled would be with DLC characters, and we’ve gotten several leaks of DLC not yet added to the game (the aforementioned Ash being one, Robocop being another, and a few Mortal Kombat legends to boot).
That isn’t the only leak coming from Mortal Kombat 11, though. Recently, a Reddit user discovered a placeholder for a bundle that would include more DLC characters. The bundle was coded into Steam, with it being visible on the SteamDB as the Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath Kollection. It had been updated 12 hours ago as of the user’s noticing, with the billing type as a Store or CD Key. Shortly after the player made the discovery and announced it, it was removed from the database with no trace except for screenshots from those who thought to take it.
At this point, it’s starting to become questionable if NetherRealm and WB are even trying to keep these things secret. It seems like Mortal Kombat 11 has already been subjected to more leaks and prodding than most other games, and every week seems to bring another.
Heck, some people are wondering if it wouldn’t be better for NetherRealm to just do all the leaks themselves and announce everything they have coming down the pipe all at once. The announcement of Spawn wasn’t much of a surprise, as many in the community seemed to know that it was coming. At this rate, NetherRealm seems to be the last party to announce their own content, which is drastically hurting their marketing.
