In a surprising turn of events, Cyberpunk 2077 has been leaked and pinned for a PS4, Xbox One, and PC release. It wasn’t expected we’d see any more key information about Cyberpunk 2077 before hearing more about the next-gen consoles, but the box art and a mural at E3 suggest we’re going to hear a LOT more about the game in the coming days.
At 2018’s E3, Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most-discussed and critically appraised games at the event. Praised for its detailed gameplay, its sprawling RPG world, and unique gameplay mechanics, Cyberpunk looks insane. The Witcher 3 is widely considered one of the best RPG games ever made, and people are excited to see what the Projekt Red team can do with a futuristic, dystopian setting.

This image of the game’s box art and what looks like special edition goodies hit the web today, and evidently, Twitter and the gaming world went a little mad. It was totally unexpected that the game would be released on current-gen consoles as Projekt Red has been very secretive and aloof when it comes to details. Ignore the Podrecznik Cyberpunk 2020 in the corner, but I think this means we can expect the game within the next 12 months.
The keen-eyed fans have been talking about the leaked product. It seems like the real deal. Those extra goodies releasing alongside this special edition look a lot like the gear that came out with The Witcher 3, stuff like postcards, the map, and stickers. Plus, much of the artwork looks to be original. It’s high-quality and appealing – the two traits we’ve come to expect from the Polish game studio.
CD Projekt Red, despite the leaked goodies, hasn’t yet commented on the release. They have told the world that the game will be at E3, but there will be no playable version. CEO Adam Kicinski seems excited for E3, claiming it will be the “most important fair in CD Projekt’s history.” It’s their goal to be even more prominent than in 2018, which is asking a lot.
There are all sorts of things we hope we see at E3 for Cyberpunk: a release date, special edition versions, and what Digital Scapes (a well-known multiplayer studio) has brought to the table.
