On Friday, CD Projekt Red — the developers behind The Witcher games and the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 — held a conference call for investors, where they discussed the studio’s plans going forward, next-gen consoles, and if they have anything else that’s currently in development.

Of course, when asked about what’s next on the agenda after the release of Cyberpunk 2077 next spring, the developers declined to comment. But, while they didn’t get into the specifics of what their AAA games future looks like, they did admit that they do have other things in development. They also said that, for the most part, what they have in development is in conjunction with Cyberpunk 2077.

When asked about Cyberpunk 2077’s multiplayer, CD Projekt Red said that they’re still “experimenting and checking different options and possibilities,” while adding that the online-based mode is still in the early stages of its development. As of right now, it looks like the game will be shipped without a multiplayer mode, but one will get added at some point post-launch.

The developers were also asked about their plans for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox One Scarlett, which are both scheduled to be released during next year’s holiday season, and as you’d expect, CDPR is planning on developing something for the next-gen consoles.

“Of course, we do have insights on what’s around the corner and what’s happening with PlayStation and Xbox. We’re watching it closely and one may probably assume that at some point we’re gonna do something with the next-gen. However, we cannot really be very specific about what that might be, when exactly that might be. I will only safely assume that it’s not gonna be around the launch timeframe of those consoles.”

According to CD Projekt Red, the pre-order numbers for Cyberpunk 2077 are right where they expected them to be at this point. So, fans are excited about their upcoming release. But, it’s quite clear that even though there’s a ton of goodwill surrounding Cyberpunk, fans want another entry in The Witcher series.

Next month, Netflix is going to launch season one of The Witcher, which will be based on the books. Regardless, if the show does well, fans of the game series will likely demand a fourth installment in the beloved fantasy franchise. But, at this point, CD Projekt Red hasn’t publicly revealed any plans related to their most popular IP.
