Blizzard is constantly applying hotfixes and updates to all different variations of their MMORPG titan, World of Warcraft. With Classic, Battle for Azeroth, and a Shadowlands alpha build all in the works, it’s rare for many days to pass before the developers release some sort of update.
This week’s updates went towards the modern version of the game, World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth. Blizzard has made a few alterations to a handful of aspects of the title, including tweaking some bug fixes for PvP and quests.
The first bug being addressed is directed towards the legendary cape that players earn to tackle endgame content. Blizzard has fixed a bug with Ashjra’kamas, Shroud of Resolve that was causing it to despawn only the most recently summoned Eye of Corruption instead of all active ones.
Additionally, the developers have fully installed the Preserved Contaminant mechanic. This new feature lets players use Echoes of Ny’alotha to purchase corruptions and apply them to their gear at their own leisure.
This new system is another step towards removing RNG and allowing players a bit more control over how their endgame content takes shape. Rather than forcing players to grind out drop after drop in hopes of getting the effects they want, Preserved Contaminants make them purchasable items.
Of course, the better the corruption, the more expensive it’ll be. Third ranks of some of the more powerful corruptions, such as Infinite Stars, run for a hefty price, so do your best to save up your Echoes of Ny’alotha!
For players that might focus more on the player-vs.-player content, the Temple of Kotmogu has had a bug fix applied to make it a bit less of a headache. Blizzard has addressed an issue that was causing Orbs of Power to drop when taking the gateway created by a Corrupted Gladiator’s Breach trinket.
The final issue being addressed is targeted towards questing – a specific questline, to be exact. To quote the notes directly, “The quests within the Shadowbarb Drone questline can no longer be completed with Party Sync activated.”
The developers explain in a note that the Party Sync feature was causing players to have their Aqir Hatchling faction progress reset. To fix this, Blizzard simply made the feature unusable for the questline to save everyone a headache.
And those are all the changes being given to us this week so far! The weekly reset is coming up on Tuesday, so we’ll likely see a handful of hotfixes trickling out over the week as Blizzard applies more and more polish to the title.
