One of the more manlier figures depicted in cinema has to be Conan the Barbarian. His physique alone puts fear in the hearts of his enemies, not to mention his lethal sword-wielding capabilities. The video games by Funcom have done this character justice. There are quite a few of them to play as well.
If you haven’t had the chance to experience them first-hand, you’ll be happy to know that Funcom is actually letting Steam users play all of their titles over the weekend. You don’t even have to pay a dime. This presents the perfect opportunity to see what these games have in store.
The list includes Age of Conan: Unchained, Conan Exiles, and Conan Unconquered. All three really are great plays. Conan Exiles is one of the more popular titles because of its unique story and immerse design. Instead of playing Conan, you’re a character rescued by him. You’ll wander the lands of Conan — looking to build a home and a kingdom. It’s an online experience that features an open-ended sandbox. Thus, there are plenty of journeys that can be had.
You can go through these vast lands with a friend or solo, depending on your particular preferences. As you delve deeper into the game, you’ll have the chance to upgrade your character. You start out low on the totem pole, but after some hard-fought battles, you can become an elite warrior yet. There are plenty of things to do in this game, from looting mysterious dungeons to challenging rival factions. It’s completely up to you how you forge a legacy.
Conan Unconquered is a bit different in that it’s a real-time strategy game. You won’t be immersed in an open world. Instead, you’ll spend time building your army and delicately putting together battle strategies. There are four characters you can choose from, including Conan himself. A lot of your time will be spent on developing new technology so that you can better defend against enemy hordes.
The three of these games vary quite a bit, but they all have their shining features. It’s amazing to see Funcom give so many people access to their amazing work. They’re looking to get as many gamers to experience these titles as they can, a strategy that should lead to more sales down the road. If you like what you see after the weekend, most of these games are significantly discounted on Steam at the moment.
